Error Message - CURL error: Operation timed out
If you’re receiving emails with error messages that read, “CURL error: Operation timed out…” despite the fact that AMA has published a post on your blog, then log in to the WordPress admin panel of your blog, and please check the following:
Go to Options/Settings, Writing, and look at the list of ping services in the “Update Services” text box.
If you have a long list of ping services there, then that’s probably the reason why you’re getting the error messages.
Pinging all those services is taking so long that the AMA software times out while waiting for your blog to respond back to say that the post was successfully published.
Please remove some of the ping services until you don’t get the error message. You really only need http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ in the list, and that one alone won’t slow down publishing on your site.
The AMA system cannot wait indefinitely for your blog to respond, otherwise we would never be able to get through all the publishing that the system must do.
If removing the ping services does not solve the issue, then check if any plugins are slowing down the publishing process.

I followed the process outlined in this set of instructions. I only have one ping service listed, pingomatic. Is there something else that could be causing the problem?

G’day all - from Australia
Well you learn something new every day…
I have over 40 blogs - and now I’m learning this trick?
Thanks guys - great job.

Don, there could be a plugin that’s also slowing down the publishing process.

Not sure what the problem is. Even though I’m getting this message, the article is posted faster than I can blink.
I’m using 100% pure install from PLR Pro wordpress installer with only pingomatic. So if there is a plugin slowing things down, it’s included in ALL of the PLR pro-installed blogs.

Thanks for the heads up, guys.
Just made the correction as instructed. Only messaging Pingomatic now. Really appreciate the work you’re doing!

G’day from Australia
I am still getting these warnings even though I am only using pingomatic?
Is there a list of suspect plugins which may be causing this - although I have noticed my Hosting Server seems to be running a little slow lately.
Anyone?

I am also receiving these warnings and I have completely removed the http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ from the Update Services box.
Any other ideas?
Thanks you for your time and for such great service!

I have also received this error message from some of my blog. I think the problem could be from the web hosting temporary down.

I only have pingomatic in the list and currently no plugins activated so this is a bit of a mystery to me

I too only have pingomatic.

I removed the other services , hope this helps.
What I don’t understand though is why it has worked great for a couple of months … I have made no changes , oh well .
